Top Ten: Improper Relationships

Whether it's a strict rule or not (and I'm sure it must be) prison staff aren't meant to have romantic involvements with inmates. Of course, in Wentworth there will always be the one that slips through the net. Or two.. or three..

1. Steve Fawkner & Sandy Edwards
Ah, the ever-grinning Steve, best remembered for running through H-block in nothing but Y-fronts.. Not his only revealing moment inside, because he had a secret affair with Top Dog, Sandy Edwards.

2. Joan Ferguson & Audrey Forbes
We only get to see Audrey in a vaseline-tinted flashback sequence, when Joan was reminiscing about her love affair with the inmate at a previous prison, in the good old days when she favoured the Stephen Fry/Oscar Wilde look.

See also: Not for want of trying - Joan showed more than a passing interest for Hannah Simpson. Unfortunately, this attraction was a one-way thing, and nothing developed.

3. Karen Travers & Dr Greg Miller
Pretty and intelligent, Karen was imprisoned for killing someone who had been physically abusing her. After arriving in Wentworth she realised she knew the prison doctor from before. A romance developed, ending in marriage.

4. Petra Roberts & Dr Scott Collins
Pretty and intelligent, Petra was imprisoned for killing someone who had been physically abusing her. After arriving in Wentworth she realised she knew the prison doctor from before. A romance developed, ending in marriage. Before you could say "shameless re-hash", Petra and Scott appeared. But things weren't exactly the same. Karen's acting was good, and her character wasn't swoony and irritating, for example. Both doctors were barely memorable, apart from Greg's penchant for show-it-all tight trousers.

5. Julie Egbert & Steve Ryan
Hunky doctor Steve decided to work undercover in Wentworth for a phychological study of the inmates. After walking around in muscle-hugging tee-shirts and giving a few gratuitous appearances in skimpy swimwear, he fell for Julie Egbert, and eventually married her. Hang on, a romance between a doctor and an inmate...? Nah, it'll never catch on.

6. Chrissie Latham & Neil Murray
Not a doctor for once, but a nurse. When religious psycho killer Nursey Neil went out killing prostitutes in his fetching black leather gloves, he must have thought he'd won the lottery with man-hungry Chrissie Latham. Poor Chrissie got the surprise of her life when she found his offer to "take her out" wasn't meant in the way she'd first imagined.

7. Andrew Fry & Queenie Marshall
One of Big-Man-From-The-Department Andrew Fry's most pompous moments was beautifully destroyed when the brassy prostitute walked in and immediately recognised him as a former client. He resigned in shame soon after.

8. Len Murphy & Lou Kelly
As part of a plot to get rid of the violent officer by catching him in bed with a prisoner, a trap was set with Lou as the seductive, hair-lacquered bait. But this backfired when Murphy arrived after lights out instead, and ended up having sex with her regardless.

9. Meg Jackson & Bob Morris
Not strictly a relationship with a prisoner, but rather a prisoner's close family member. Poor Tracey Morris had the horror of seeing her father marry one of the screws who were locking her up.

See also: Colleen Powell had a brief affair with a man while his wife was a prisoner in Wentworth.

10. Jim Fletcher & Jacki Nolan (aka Sarah Forrest)
A case of an officer having personal involvement with an inmate, before they became a prisoner in their charge. Jacki had escaped from Barnhurst some years previously, and had since made a successful new life.. until she took a fancy to Prison Officer Jim at a party. She ended up back in prison - in Wentworth of course, where her lover happened to be an officer.

See also: Rick Manning had started getting involved with Rachel Milsom, when she took revenge on her father's hit-and-run killer and got herself put in prison - Wentworth, of course, where loverboy Rick happened to work.
