The male inmates had arrived in Wentworth (in A-Block. Thankfully not B-Block, else they'd have had Minnie Donovan to deal with.) Kath was quick to notice a potential business opportunity. "They arrived with nothing," she pointed out. Presumably this would make them appreciate a few boxes of nothing from the shop. Except Joan stopped her selling contraband to them.
Marty was still staring cow-eyed at Spike, and was even seen running his eyes longingly over her prison file. (Not sure what "standing orders" was doing on the form at the front of her file, though.) He was summoned to the governor's office, to speak to Mr Dwyer about his accusations about Craven. Mr Dwyer - just for a change - was ANGRY. So Marty was placed on 3 months probation. Craven was quickly settling in, and appeared to like terrorising inmates by waving a black pudding at them. He decided to get at Rita via her friends, first of all Alice ("you know the one - bit on the horsey side"). During the 'getting to know you' session between the women and male inmates, Stud was to lure Alice off behind the shed then beat her up. When the time arrived, the inmates were lined up in the garden, a line of men facing a line of women, and I was eagerly awaiting the Country Dancing music to commence. But Craven's plan failed when Stud was pounced on by the women, angry at his earlier attack on Lisa, who stripped him of his clothes faster than a plague of locusts. Loved the look of shock on Alice's face when they all looked down and saw the reason for his nickname.
Joan and Craven were busy plotting to get rid of Ann. From past experience this shouldn't be too difficult. It seems only something minor had to go wrong for Erica or Ann to be blamed and booted out, yet no matter how many times people like Joan or Craven have been investigated, forcibly removed from office, lost an entire prison, or whatever, they're always popped back on the throne with all their previous wrongs conveniently forgotten. So I can't imagine what might happen next.
As for the Wentworth security - "Being in here's not like being inside at all," exclaimed Brumby. Couldn't have put better myself.
The final scene was Craven's second attempt to get at Rita via her friends, this time Lorilei. Two men (one a violent rapist) crept into Lorilei's solitary cell. (They were wearing masks, despite one of them having a very distinctive and easy to recognise body.) They approached the bed, and the episode ended as one jumped onto her, and the other silenced her. Very scary stuff, with great build-up in the tension. I eagerly wait to see what happens next.
